The HKPhO is co-organised by the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. The HKPhO has been organised to promote physics education in Hong Kong and provide an enhancement platform for students with high potential in physics.
Apart from the HKPhO, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will conduct the follow-on enhancement programmes for the high-achieving students. Five students with outstanding performance in the follow-on training sessions will be selected to represent Hong Kong to take part in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).
