The Book Club on September 24th was a resounding success, drawing over 50 students from four secondary schools including Leung Shek Chee College, SALEM-Immanuel Lutheran College, Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School, and Carmel Pak U Secondary School.
Under the captivating theme "A Thread Across Millennia: Discovering Ancient Poetics in Modern Pop Music," celebrated author Chan Mei guided the students on a unique journey, intertwining the melodies of contemporary pop songs with the timeless beauty of classical poetry. By juxtaposing the ancient with the modern, the speaker illuminated a shared essence of beauty, showing how classical poetic sentiment is both revived and extended today—a testament to how aesthetics transcend the boundaries of time. To perceive beauty and grasp the essence of poetry is to transform a fleeting, ordinary moment into eternity.
